Born in Montreal, Canada, to an artistic family, Miguel began his exploration of sound through music. Beginning with piano, clarinet and saxophone, he eventually discovered the endless possibilities of creating unique sounds with synthesizers, samplers and drum machines. Songwriting led Miguel to his first session at a recording studio and from that point on he knew that mixing was where he could really make some noise. After several years in the music business producing, recording and touring with various bands throughout Eastern Canada, a fascination for film sound led him to pursue a career in postproduction sound in Vancouver.
Starting in the transfer room and working up through the ranks to the mixing stage at Western Canada’s largest sound facility, Miguel cut his teeth mixing independent films and cable television series from 1994 to 2000 (Outer Limits, The Crow, Last Wedding). In 2000, Miguel started his own company, Bionic Audio, with the mandate to create unique sound design and mixes for film and television. (Davinci’s Inquest, Emile, An American Haunting, Year of the Carnivore, Intelligence, Cole, The Thaw).
Since then, Miguel has received much recognition for his creative work. He has won several sound editing and mixing awards, and continues to be one of the most sought after sound artists in Vancouver.
